EXTENDED BIOGRAPH

Negin Nazem Zomorodi is an international composer, higher education lecturer, and musicologist whose work bridges classical conservatory pedagogy, avant-garde music-theatre, and transcultural modal theory. Currently a PhD candidate in Communication and Cultural Industries at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), her doctoral research focuses on the intersectional mechanics of Persian Dastgāh systems and Andalusian Flamenco Palos, culminating in the development of “PolGāh”—an original, hybrid modal framework for contemporary composition. With over two decades of institutional leadership and university-level instruction, Zomorodi has shaped the curricula of premier higher education programs. She has served as a faculty lecturer in music form, contemporary analysis, counterpoint, and harmony across major music faculties in Tehran, including the Tehran University of Art (Honar) and Islamic Azad University. As an entrepreneur and administrator, she founded and directed Gozar Music Academy, designing multi-tier instructional pathways aligned with the highest international conservatory benchmarks (Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto). An active global practitioner, Zomorodi’s compositional catalog features large-scale symphonic works formally recorded by the Prague Metropolitan Orchestra at the Czech Radio Studios, as well as solo improvisation portfolios (Bubble & Mirage, Timeless Mirror). Her original contemporary chamber works have been curated and showcased by elite international ensembles across Europe and North America, including feature selections by the Flute Quartet Image in Macerata, Italy, and presentations at the National Flute Association Convention in the United States. Her multi-disciplinary research manifesto, “Wings & Fins”, seamlessly unifies scenographic storyboarding, spatial acoustic design, and music-theatre composition into a vehicle for cross-cultural dialogue and social activism.
